X Factor Comes to Braintree College
Braintree College students had plenty to shout about when a film crew from the Xtra Factor dropped into College on Tuesday afternoon. Local X Factor contestant Olly Murs attended the College in 2001 and studied Sport and Recreation before leaving in 2003. Tutors who taught Olly at the time were invited back into the College to comment on the success of their former student.
Alan Smart now a tutor at Colchester Institute said, “We are watching and supporting Olly, he shows the cheekiness and flare that he demonstrated in College, we hope he can go all the way.”
Since the College heard that the film crew were coming to the College there has been a real ‘buzz’ around the campus with everyone wanting to be involved and cheer on Olly, none more so than current Sports and Recreation tutor Anna Simon. Anna remembers Olly from not that long ago when she herself was a student and Olly a year ahead of her in his studies, became her course mentor. Anna remembers him exactly as he comes over to millions each week as a thoroughly likeable individual. Anna said, “He often entertained us with impromptu singing and dance and was a charismatic entertainer back then, I’m not surprised he has star quality.”
Debbie Waller, Marketing and Communications Manager concluded, “We are really pleased for Olly and wish him success, he has been an inspiration to our students.”
