Health and Social Care Diploma Students Achieve University Places for September 2009

Braintree College BTEC National Diploma Health and Social Care students have all achieved places at their chosen universities. In September they will start degree courses in subjects including occupational therapy, nursing, midwifery, social work, paramedics and operations department practitioner.

Student Billie Stringer said: "On the BTEC course you put into practice what you learn in lessons. We completed work placements in schools, day centres and nurseries and worked with people of all ages, on a two week placement to really get to experience working conditions. We also visited different universities to find out about courses and careers after graduating."

Lecturer Annie Cowcher said: "We are delighted our final year students are fulfilling their ambitions and moving on to the next stage in their studies. The health sector offers excellent employment opportunities across a range of organisations within the public, private and voluntary sectors, including youth work, counselling, training, nursing and midwifery. Health and Social Care students can progress from a Level 1 to a Level 3 qualification and gain UCAS points to enable entry to Higher Education. The College works closely with Anglia Ruskin University and has in place progression accords which facilitate pathways into Higher Education."
