Music Concert Raises £150 for Children's Charities in Goa
Music Technology students and Childcare students worked together to host a fundraising concert which raised £135 for charities supporting street children and orphanages in Goa. Twenty Year 1 BTEC National Diploma Music Technology students presented a concert of live music at the College.

Former Braintree College Student is taking her Beauty Therapy Skills Further
Former Braintree College Beauty Therapy student Elaine Pole has returned to talk to current students about her career after leaving College. Elaine, 18, attended Saffron Walden County High School before coming to Braintree College in 2006 to study the BTEC National Diploma in Beauty Therapy; she completed the Level 3 qualification in June 2008. Last year Elaine joined Jeni Watson at Dermaticians Ltd, a dermal aesthetics clinic based in Cambridge offering a range of specialist treatments.
School Students Build for the Future
School students from Ramsey College are gaining a valuable insight into the world of work in the Construction sector. School students attend a one day a week course at a specialist centre as part of their Key Stage 4 Curriculum.
College hosts DCSF briefing session outlining key 14-19 reforms
Braintree College was delighted to host a Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) briefing session outlining the key 14 - 19 reforms. The briefing took place on Thursday 30 April in the Conference Centre at the College. The briefing gave those involved in Education from Mid and North Essex the opportunity to hear first-hand the key changes to 14 - 19 learning provision.
National Blood Service enrolled new donors at Braintree College
The National Blood Service visited Braintree College on Thursday 23 April to sign up new blood donors and give out information. Over 60 new donors were enrolled and they will be invited to one of the many local sessions in Braintree and the surrounding areas. The Scary Guy comes to College
On Tuesday 21 and Wednesday 22 April 2009 the ‘ Scary Guy’ came to Braintree College.
The Scary Guy is a United States based speaker who campaigns worldwide to eliminate hate, violence, prejudice and bullying in schools, colleges and industry.
Motor Vehicle Apprentices take part in Nationwide Carbon Footprint Research Programme
Motor Vehicle Apprentices at Braintree College have collected important data that will contribute to a nationwide carbon footprint research programme. The Level 2 and Level 3 Apprentices ran emissions tests on six cars in the motor vehicle workshop to analyse and measure the efficiency of fuel injectors and the effect on emissions and engine performance before and after the injectors had been cleaned.
Students Explore Career Opportunities in Child Care
Child Care students took part in a careers event highlighting employment opportunities working with children. The students received information and advice from local day nurseries, nanny agencies, Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), Essex Early Years and Child Care Recruitment Service, PARC and Capita Education Resourcing.
Fundraising Activities for Comic Relief
A range of fundraising activities took place this year for Comic Relief. Six BTEC National Diploma Year 2 Business students organised a sponsored silence and raised £42.02. Lecturer Gill Kelly said: "The students decided to raise money for Comic Relief with a one hour sponsored silence, which took place during a Business lesson in February.
