Student Bands Perform at Local Live Music Venue
Two Braintree College student bands played their first live gig at a local music venue in June. Bands ‘Empty Eclipse' and ‘Hot in the City', formed by seven Year 1 BTEC National Diploma Music Technology students, performed their own material and covers at The Benson Bar in Bradford Street, Braintree in June 2009.

Thirteen Childcare students volunteered their help at the Barnardo’s ‘Big Toddle’ at Colchester Zoo on Friday 12 June 2009. Over 100 toddlers took part in the sponsored half mile walk with parents and pre-school groups to raise funds for the national children’s charity.
Sports Students Win Essex College League Championship
BTEC Sports students are celebrating after winning the Essex College League Championship Division 3 for 2008 - 2009. The football team played 17 games, won 13 and drew 2 during their successful season.
Health and Social Care Diploma Students Achieve University Places for September 2009
Braintree College BTEC National Diploma Health and Social Care students have all achieved places at their chosen universities. In September they will start degree courses in subjects including occupational therapy, nursing, midwifery, social work, paramedics and operations department practitioner.

Nine BTEC Foundation Diploma Art and Design students at Braintree College exhibited a range of work for their Final Major Project. The exhibition featured ceramics, drawing, graphics, painting, photography, prints, textiles, sculpture and project portfolios.
Student band In Equinox Perform at the Grand Final of Live and Unsigned UK
In June 2009 student band In Equinox performed at the grand final of ‘Live and Unsigned UK’. The band, formed by five second year BTEC Music Technology students, took part in live auditions in the regional and area finals before competing with other musicians in the grand national final which took place in a 2000 capacity venue in Portsmouth.
Shakespearean comedy meets TV favourites ‘Benidorm’ and ‘Hollyoaks’ in an action packed student production
Final year BTEC National Diploma Performing Arts students presented Shakespeare’s romantic comedy 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ in June 2009. In this modern adaptation the story took place in the Athens Holiday Camp and the Woods Nightclub, where we met the lovers, the management and the bungling Red Coats.
Childcare Students' Fundraiser
A cake sale organised by 35 BTEC and CACHE Diploma Childcare students has raised £70 towards funds for an educational visit to Goa in 2010.
