Local Youngsters Achieve their BTEC Work Skills Qualification and Raise Over £100 for National Charities

Young people on the Braintree College Youth East Programme have achieved their BTEC Work Skills qualification after completing a six week Enterprise Skills course that has given them practical experience that will help them into employment.

Students Help Spread the Safety Message with the 'Crucial Crew'

Students on the Entry to Employment course at Braintree College helped to deliver the 'Crucial Crew' workshops run by Braintree District Council with the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership. Over 1800 Year 6 pupils from 49 Primary Schools throughout the Braintree District attended the workshops at the College in July.


BTEC and CACHE Childcare Students Visit the ‘Forest Schools’ in Denmark

In May nine BTEC and CACHE Early Years students made a visit to Denmark as part of their childcare course. The students met up with Heads of Early Years at schools in Denmark to take a look at the Danish approach to education, the ‘Forest Schools’ scheme and the country’s culture. The students and staff were impressed with how the Danish embrace the outdoors and integrate the natural environment into the learning experience for pre-school children.


Celebration of Student Achievement

Braintree College celebrated the outstanding achievements of 38 students at its annual Student Achievement Awards Evening on Thursday 25 June 2009. The awards covered a full range of academic and vocational excellence, as well as recognising the achievements and contribution of students in areas such as commitment to study, peer support, learning for the workplace and life-long learning.


Paralympic Gold Medallist Dan Bentley visits Braintree College

Paralympic gold medallist and former student Dan Bentley visited Braintree College to talk to Sport and Exercise Sciences students about his training with the Great Britain Boccia team and his experiences of the 2008 Beijing Paralympics.


College Welcomes Special Visitors from Colchester United Football Club

Colchester United FC mascot Eddie the Eagle and players Clive Platt and Paul Reid met students and staff at Braintree College on Tuesday 22 September. Eddie and Darrell Fox, the Club’s Commercial Sales Executive, gave out information on special offers for students including discounted tickets for the match against Charlton Athletic


It’s a Goose Extravaganza

Braintree College students are used to dealing with a variety of different requests and were not taken aback when local artist, Georgie Roy, approached lead art tutor James Kinder and asked him to produce a gaggle of geese for the Gosfield Goose Trail.


Motor Vehicle and Motorcycle students gain IMI Awards

Motor Vehicle and Motorcycle students at Braintree College have gained Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) awards in recognition of their achievements. The IMI is the professional body for training and qualifications in the Motor Industry.


A Level Results 2009

Braintree College is pleased to report successful A Level results for 2009 with a significant increase in the number of students achieving higher grades. Overall the pass rate for A2 was 98% with 72% achieved at higher grades (A – C). This represents a 9% increase in overall grades and a 22% increase in the number of higher grades achieved compared with 2008.
