A Farleigh Hospice craft sale at Braintree College in December raised £85 towards the Chelmsford based charity’s fundraising campaign

Braintree College has been re-accredited with the Matrix Standard. The College maintains this prestigious standard in recognition for the quality of information, advice and guidance it delivers to both potential and existing learners. External Assessor Bernard Thompson observed that the College, ‘Went the extra mile’ to assist clients when looking for information.


Childcare Students’ Fashion Show Raises funds for Children in Goa

A fashion show organised by second year CACHE and BTEC Childcare students at Braintree College raised over £350 for charities supporting orphans and street children in Goa.


BTEC Health and Social Care students’ Health Week

BTEC Health and Social Care students took part in a Health Week from 23 to 27 November. Students on the Introductory, First and National Diploma courses presented information stands on various subjects related to Health including ‘Healthcare before the NHS’, ‘Introduction of the NHS’ and ‘Healthcare Today… and Tomorrow’.


X Factor Comes to Braintree College

Braintree College students had plenty to shout about when a film crew from the Xtra Factor dropped into College on Tuesday afternoon. Local X Factor contestant Olly Murs attended the College in 2001 and studied Sport and Recreation before leaving in 2003. Tutors who taught Olly at the time were invited back into the College to comment on the success of their former student.


College hosts Panathlon Challenge Taster Competition

A Panathlon Challenge Taster Competition took place in Braintree College Sports Hall on Thursday 19 November. The event was organised by the North West Essex School Partnership in conjunction the Panathlon Challenge charity and the sport activities were run by BTEC Sport students at the College.


Pivot Dance Company Represents Braintree College at the U.Dance Festival

Ten students from Pivot Dance Company at Braintree College took part in the first regional heat of the U.Dance Festival in Sharnbrook, Bedfordshire, on Saturday 14 November. The students, who are all studying on the BTEC National Award in Dance, were required to perform an original dance work that showed off their skills as performers and choreographers to a paying audience.


Students and Staff Raise £180 for BBC Children in Need

Students at Braintree College have taken part in fundraising activities for BBC Children in Need. On Wednesday 18 November Motor Vehicle Apprentices dressed up in the costumes of their film heroes and heroines and ran a cake sale which raised £105.


Motor Vehicle Apprentices Learn About Auto Security

Motor Vehicle Apprentices at Braintree College received training in vehicle security during a one day event presented by auto locksmiths Ron Cliff and Stephen Cliff. The London based father and son team are both Fellow members of the Master Locksmiths Association (MLA).


Beauty Therapy Students Raise £200 for the Wear it Pink Campaign

A Wear It Pink day organised by Braintree College Beauty Therapy students on Friday 6 November raised £200 for Breast Cancer Campaign. The fundraising activities included manicures and make-up, face painting and a cake sale.
