What tutorial support will I get?

We take pride in our student support system, which aims to ensure that you get the most out of the time and effort you put in to the College. From the time of your application until the completion of your studies and as you move on to other things, your Pastoral Tutor will be there to support you. He or she will listen to your concerns, help you with your Individual Learning Plan (ILP) for your chosen area of study and assist you in monitoring your progress. Your Pastoral Tutor will also point you in the right direction if you need help or guidance outside his or her area of expertise, whether it is financial, personal or for health matters.

We are also interested in what happens to you when you leave the College. Our specialist careers advisers are available to give guidance on the options and choices available, both in Higher Education and in employment. They will help guide you toward achieving your personal ambitions.

Additional Learning Support

Whilst at College, we know that some students will need help and support in achieving their learning goals. This could be because of medical conditions, allergies, or a particular learning difficulty. Some may need practical help, for example access to a lift, or simply need to be certain that tutors are aware of their individual needs. Help may be needed on an occasional or on a longer term basis.

Example of how we could assist you include:

• the provision of specialised equipment

• an assessment by an educational psychologist

• additional assistance from our friendly support team

Every attempt is made to find out your learning support requirements before the start of your programme and support can be accessed throughout the year.
