Essential Work Skills

Having staff that possess good literacy and numeracy skills is an important success factor for all businesses. Research for the Government’s Skills for Life agenda has shown that better literacy and numeracy in the workplace will equip employees with essential work skills, contribute to staff feeling more valued and recognised, enable employees to have the confidence to take more responsibility for their work and help to create an environment for better team working.

Staff with changing job roles may need support in English and Maths to help them read data, write reports or speak at meetings; staff attending training programmes or working towards NVQ qualifications may also need literacy and numeracy support.

The College offers a range of free Essential Skills programmes including:

• Brush Up English and Maths
