Additional Learning Support
Whilst at College, we know that some students will need help and support in achieving their learning goals. This could be because of medical conditions, allergies, or a particular learning difficulty. Some may need practical help, for example access to a lift, or simply to be certain that tutors are aware of their individual needs. Help may be needed on an occasional or on a longer term basis.
Additional Learning Support (ALS) is a department at the College whose sole purpose is to arrange support for students with specific needs. All information supplied is treated with respect and confidentiality. During the initial meeting we will ask if you are happy to share information with other members of staff to enable more effective support to assist you in achieving your qualification.
We can offer specialist tuition to help you develop strategies in areas such as dyslexia. Study Skills are available to ALS students. These sessions will be particularly useful in helping you prepare your assignments. The sessions will be with a learning advisor in an independent learning room. The learning advisor will work with you to ensure you receive the individual support you require.
ALS can provide a range of specialist equipment and software whilst studying in the college. We can provide access arrangements for students with a medical condition, specific learning difficulty and/or disability.
ALS have a strong team that can assist you in overcoming many of the difficulties in learning to enable you to achieve your own personal learning goals and your qualification.
